Smoking With Strangers is an emerging electronic music act from Dallas, Texas, known for their dynamic performances and genre-blending sound. Founded by producer and DJ Jay Sustain, the band has consisted of several interchanging members including: Xxelia, Taylor Stokes and FullyMaxxed, while working with artists like, Dave Eggar, Sasha Lazard, Evan Lamb (TryMoreMojo). Smoking With Strangers produced a remix of “Fall” by The Psychedelic Furs, featured on Channel 69‘s Bandcamp release. This project highlights their ability to reinterpret classic tracks while maintaining their unique style.

They have shared the stage with the high-energy electronic band Ishi, notably performing together at a New Year’s Eve event at Trees Dallas. They’ve also shared the stage with Govinda, Cedars, DTNS, TryMoreMojo, Antennae With A Hundred Drums, JG & the Robots, Kind Beats, DJ Spaz (TRPL E), NITE and Empathy Test.

On October 2, 2021, the band opened for Chromeo at Arlington Backyard in Arlington, Texas. They shared the stage with another local act, Electric Tongues, as part of the Ramblin’ Roads Music Festival lineup. ​This performance was a significant milestone for Smoking With Strangers, highlighting their growing presence in the Dallas-Fort Worth music scene. Sharing the stage with an internationally recognized act like Chromeo provided them with valuable exposure and an opportunity to reach a broader audience.

Smoking With Strangers was nominated for the Best Electronic Act category at the 2020 Dallas Observer Music Awards. The nomination placed them alongside other notable electronic artists such as Blixaboy, China Club, Cygnus, Fissionary, and Welcome Center. Their nomination was also acknowledged by their management company, Time2Fly Music, further emphasizing the band’s recognition within the local music community.
